What Hidden Costs Should You Budget For?
The advertised package price is usually accurate for what it covers, but four costs sit outside it:
- Flights. No Istanbul package we reviewed in July 2026 includes airfare. Add your round-trip fare from your home airport to the package price.
- A second trip. If your plan requires a second session — common with advanced hair loss — you pay a second package and a second set of flights. Ask in the video consultation whether your goal is realistic in one session.
- Megasession pricing. Some clinics charge above the listed package for unusually large graft counts. Get the graft number and the total price in the same written quote.
- Extra nights and companion costs. Packages cover 2–3 hotel nights for the patient; longer stays or a travel companion’s room may be extra.
Why Is the Cheapest Package Often a Red Flag?

How Do You Verify a Clinic Is Officially Licensed?
Since Turkey’s regulation of April 26, 2025 (Official Gazette No. 32882), any facility treating international patients must hold an authorization certificate from the Turkish Ministry of Health, and authorized facilities are barred from working with unauthorized intermediaries or agencies.
As of July 2026, the Ministry’s official list published by the Health Services General Directorate (SHGM) contains 4,913 authorized facilities: 539 hospitals, 137 medical centers, roughly 2,596 physician practices, and 1,641 other facility types — 2,284 of them in Istanbul. Note that clinics appear under their legal entity names, which rarely match their brand names: Dr. Serkan Aygın’s clinic, for example, is registered as “Özel Dr. Muharrem Serkan Aygın Muayenehanesi.” We have verified four major Istanbul clinics on the official list under their legal names.

If a clinic does not appear, that does not automatically mean it is fraudulent — but “not found on the official list” is a question the clinic should answer in writing before you book.
